| [Comment From DianeDiane: ] What do you like to do for fun away from basketball? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 2:50 Diane |
2:50 |
| Lauren Jackson: I just enjoy listening to music. I'm studying for my degree in gender studies and humanities and diploma in property, so I study to escape. That keeps me focused on things other than basketball. |

| [Comment From milenamilena: ] Hi, Lauren! Will you be watching French Open final this Saturday now that Sam Stosur's in it? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 2:51 milena |
2:51 |
| Lauren Jackson: I don't think I'll be able to watch because we have a game on Saturday, but I'm definitely in Sam Stosur's corner. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 2:51 Lauren Jackson |
2:52 |
| [Comment From CatCat: ] Do you have any pets? If so, what's the funniest thing they've done? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 2:52 Cat |
2:53 |
| Lauren Jackson: I have a dog named William. He's a bit of a mongrel - cross pitbull and labrador. He's beautiful. He's an angel. He's so athletic. He's like the Houdini dog. He can jump over eight-foot fences. He'll show up and say, 'Hey, I tricked you again!' |

2:53 |
| [Comment From MGMG: ] LJ, which Western Conference opponent do you think will be most dangerous come playoff time? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 2:53 MG |
2:53 |
| Lauren Jackson: That would be probably Phoenix, L.A. and Minnesota. I think it's going to be a tough year. The league is very good. We've just got to keep getting better and hopefully nobody will bother us. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 2:53 Lauren Jackson |
2:54 |
| [Comment From Stormin SteveStormin Steve: ] Sooo, Boston or L.A.? Kevin or Kobe? Doc or Zen? Who's your pick, LJ? Who do you WANT to win the NBA Finals? Any analysis? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 2:54 Stormin Steve |
2:55 |
| Lauren Jackson: I want Boston to win. I'm a bit of a Boston fan for some reason. I think it's because I have a little bit of Irish blood. And I really love Ray Allen. He was so nice. He treated all of us very respectfully when he played here. Also Rondo, he's just blown me away. He's playing so well. And the little guy from Seattle, Nate Robinson. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 2:55 Lauren Jackson |

| [Comment From RON WHIDBEY ISLANDRON WHIDBEY ISLAND: ] WHAT DO YOU THINK IT WILL LIKE TO PLAY A GAME OUTSIDE SATURDAY NIGHT? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 2:55 RON WHIDBEY ISLAND |
2:56 |
| Lauren Jackson: I played outdoors in Brazil in 1997, maybe? It was with the Australian National Team and we played in Rio de Janeiro at Copacabana Beach. It was the middle of the afternoon and it was boiling hot. I had sunscreen all over me. Then, after the game, we went surfing, so it was a lot of fun. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 2:56 Lauren Jackson |
2:57 |
| [Comment From GuestGuest: ] The Storm is doing great this year, im very impressed excpecially with your playing! lol so ive noticed ur new tattoos on your left arm, if you dont mind asking what are they? Thanks!! you rock LJ! :) |

| [Comment From Stormin SteveStormin Steve: ] LAUREN: What's it like to have to share the Queen of Seattle Sports title with a Husky named LAWRIE for a while? Could you hit her fastball? Could she give you a good game of H-O-R-S-E? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 2:58 Stormin Steve |
2:59 |
| Lauren Jackson: She's amazing. I think she's great. We're both foreigners and we're the queens of Seattle. That's funny! |
Thursday June 3, 2010 2:59 Lauren Jackson |
2:59 |
| Lauren Jackson: Hit her fastball? Hell no. I could definitely beat her in a game of H-O-R-S-E. Otherwise there's something wrong. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 2:59 Lauren Jackson |
3:00 |
| [Comment From GuestGuest: ] thats an awesome degree. where are you getting it from? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:00 Guest |
| | |
3:00 |
| Lauren Jackson: I'm doing my diploma through Tafe in NSW and my degree is through MacQuarie University in Sydney. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:00 Lauren Jackson |
3:01 |
| [Comment From Stormin SteveStormin Steve: ] How much have injuries affected your overall career and continual psyche? I still remember the criticism you took for not playing because of your injured ankle (I think it was), and how frustrating that must've been to endure that. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:01 Stormin Steve |
3:01 |
| Lauren Jackson: Fortunately, I'm one of those people who never really dwells on the past. I'm very much an "in the moment" sort of person, so I don't think it's affected me at all. When I'm in it, it's hard, but when I'm out of it it's like it never happened. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:01 Lauren Jackson |
3:02 |
| [Comment From Ryan F.Ryan F.: ] Hi Lauren! What made you decide to change your hair color to red? Were there any other colors you were considering? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:02 Ryan F. |
3:02 |
| Lauren Jackson: Well, I guess I've been every other hair color, so flaming red is all I had left. I think it matches my personality better too. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:02 Lauren Jackson |
3:02 |
| [Comment From SterlingSterling: ] Are you really typing like Bird did? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:02 Sterling |
| | |
3:03 |
| Lauren Jackson: I'm not typing, but these are all my answers. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:03 Lauren Jackson |
3:03 |
| [Comment From m9rm9r: ] Do you prefer posting up in the paint or floating on the perimeter? |

3:03 |
| Lauren Jackson: What do you think? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:03 Lauren Jackson |
3:03 |
| [Comment From Stormin SteveStormin Steve: ] What's Brian Agler's best quality as a head coach? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:03 Stormin Steve |
| | |
3:04 |
| Lauren Jackson: I think Brian just knows how to deal with people. I think that's his best quality, personally, because he knows how to treat people individually. Obviously he knows a lot about the game, so he knows how to coach us. He has the right philosophy about defense. I'm definitely in his corner, so to speak. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:04 Lauren Jackson |
3:04 |
| [Comment From GBGB: ] Which Player do you match up with that gives you the most difficult time either defensively or disrupts your offensive game? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:04 GB |
3:05 |
| Lauren Jackson: There's so many players that impact you differently on the court. I find if I go out with a fairly free headspace and not really thinking about what someone else or another team can do to me, I'm better. I think I'm the only person who can really stop me. When I'm on, I'm on. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:05 Lauren Jackson |
3:05 |
| [Comment From MandaManda: ] Hey Loz. AFL or League? And who's your team? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:05 Manda |
| | |
3:06 |
| Lauren Jackson: I love rugby league and I also love AFL (Aussie-rules football). I always get home at the end of the season for the finals of both, and I love them both. I'm the ambassador for the Sydney Swans in AFL and West Tigers. My grandfather used to play for West. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:06 Lauren Jackson |
3:07 |
| [Comment From ToniToni: ] Hey Lauren - Which of your parents are you most like when you're playing? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:07 Toni |
| | |
3:07 |
| Lauren Jackson: I'm probably more like my mom attitude-wise and physically more like my dad. My dad and I have the exact same body. He's a little bit bigger than me now, obviously, but we have the exact same fingers, limbs, toes. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:07 Lauren Jackson |
3:08 |
| [Comment From Stevie T.Stevie T.: ] Do you see yourself finishing your career in Seattle? And what her this city meant to you? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:08 Stevie T. |
3:09 |
| Lauren Jackson: Yes, I do. I think as a professional athlete, it would be extremely special to play out my career in Seattle. It's my home here. I spend more time here than Australia and I love it. I love what the city has done for me personally and professionally. I love the water, too. And I love the Aussie pub, Kangaroo and Kiwi. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:09 Lauren Jackson |
3:09 |
| [Comment From GuestGuest: ] why gender studies and humanities? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:09 Guest |
| | |
3:10 |
| Lauren Jackson: Because I'm really passionate about equal rights for all human beings. I'm enjoying this very much. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:10 Lauren Jackson |
3:10 |
| [Comment From LoriLori: ] You spend so much time with your various teams, Seattle, Russia, Australia, what helps makes you feel "at home" in each place? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:10 Lori |
3:11 |
| Lauren Jackson: I reckon a good vegimite sandwich. I get care packs sent to me. I can make my room, wherever I am, into a very homey space wherever I am. But there's no turning Russia into home, no matter what. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:11 Lauren Jackson |
3:11 |
| [Comment From VickiVicki: ] Hi, Lauren! Completely random, "Neighbours" or "Home and Away?" |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:11 Vicki |
| | |
3:12 |
| Lauren Jackson: When I was young, I was addicted to "Home and Away," all through my younger days. I haven't been home for like 10 years, though. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:12 Lauren Jackson |
3:12 |
| [Comment From MarisaMarisa: ] Do you enjoy being approached by fans in public, or not so much? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:12 Marisa |
| | |
3:14 |
| Lauren Jackson: I'm actually really shy. When people come up to me and I'm caught off guard, I get really shy. I take a step back. It's weird. It doesn't matter who you are. I feel like in Australia, because I'm huge height-wise, everyone knows who I am. Here, it's occasional. I kind of get caught off guard a little more. In Australia, it's usually kids and not adults. I'm recognized more in Seattle now than I used to be. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:14 Lauren Jackson |

| [Comment From VickiVicki: ] Are we ever going to see you on Twitter? |

3:14 |
| [Comment From LoriLori: ] As one of the superstars in the WNBA, do rookies or new players ever ask you for an autograph? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:14 Lori |
| | |
3:15 |
| Lauren Jackson: No, never. The only person I've asked for an autograph was Meryl Streep. I asked for my mother. I was so scared when I asked her. She was nice. What an amazing woman. I was so proud. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:15 Lauren Jackson |
3:15 |
| [Comment From Tim DufffTim Dufff: ] How is team chemistry compared to last yer? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:15 Tim Dufff |
| | |
3:16 |
| Lauren Jackson: We're playing well. We all get along well, we're all great friends, so I would say that our chemistry is great. I think that the years of playing together - our starters particularly under Brian - is starting to pay off a little bit. I just hope that we continue getting better. I want to win another championship. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:16 Lauren Jackson |
3:16 |
| [Comment From JanelleJanelle: ] Do you think you would ever like to coach, either pro or at university? |

3:16 | Thursday June 3, 2010 3:16 Lauren Jackson |
3:17 |
| [Comment From ToddTodd: ] Your matchups with Lisa Leslie were always wonderfully hyped in the media. How much was hype? And are there players now with whom you have relationships that might not be painted correctly by sports writers but about which you'd like to set the story straight? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:17 Todd |
| | |
3:18 |
| Lauren Jackson: We definitely had a huge rivalry, but since she's retired I have a lot of respect for her and I'm not afraid to say that now. I think that got lost in the rivalry, how much respect I do have for her and how much she did for women's basketball. I think she was an amazing ambassador for the WNBA and women in general. I didn't mean to pull her hair out at the 2000 Olympics (even though she thinks I did). |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:18 Lauren Jackson |
3:18 |
| [Comment From TonyTony: ] You and Sue have been a great duo for a long time, what has it been like playing with her all these years? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:18 Tony |
3:19 |
| Lauren Jackson: Sue is one of my best friends, so being able to play with her and have the time to develop this relationship has been incredible. I get to play with her in Europe as well. You don't get a lot of these opportunities in basketball, so I think I've been very fortunate to land here in Seattle. To get to play with Sue has been icing on the cake. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:19 Lauren Jackson |
3:19 |
| [Comment From Different GuestDifferent Guest: ] Hi Lauren! You've probably been asked this but what did you think of the Sonics leaving town? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:19 Different Guest |
3:20 |
| Lauren Jackson: I thought it was a huge blow for the city. I think that the NBA, the league itself is in its own world. The Sonics definitely had a legacy here. It was a shame to see them go. That was one of the teams I would watch at home as a kid. To see them go like that was really distressing. Hopefully they get another here, but the Sonics leaving was definitely very sad. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:20 Lauren Jackson |
3:21 |
| [Comment From MacyBMacyB: ] What are some of your favorite artists and songs right now? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:21 MacyB |
| | |
3:22 |
| Lauren Jackson: I'm pretty predictable when it comes to music. Everyone knows my obsession with Marilyn Manson - it's like a love and it still hasn't wavered. Probably Florence and the Machine at the moment. I'm really into that. INXS, all the Australian bands. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:22 Lauren Jackson |
3:22 |
| [Comment From BillBill: ] What's after basketball? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:22 Bill |

3:23 |
| Lauren Jackson: I'm going to keep studying. I've been studying for about six years. I don't know, maybe when I finish my degree I'll get my masters and then maybe I'll get my PhD. I want to get into being able to help people. Social work, at some level, is definitely something I want to pursue. |

| [Comment From MGMG: ] What's your mindset like going into a game? As you've gotten older, have you found yourself dealing with pressure differently? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:23 MG |
| | |
3:24 |
| Lauren Jackson: As I've gotten older, I'm not so stressed about playing. I think it comes so much more naturally. I need to have a very free headspace when I play basketball. Otherwise, if I'm focused too much on things I have or haven't been working on, it messes me up. I need to be loose and very free. I feel like that's how I am, whether I'm on the court or off the court. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:24 Lauren Jackson |
3:25 |
| [Comment From Stormin SteveStormin Steve: ] Did you ever see "Crocodile Dundee" with Paul Hogan? Was that a somewhat accurate depiction of life in Aussie-Land? What's the biggest mis-representation that Americans believe about Down Under? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:25 Stormin Steve |
3:26 |
| Lauren Jackson: "That's not a knife! This is a knife!"
I would say there are definitely elements of that in certain parts of Australia. Abby Bishop would be able to tell you more about that, but I come from the South and we don't really have big fat crocodiles in the South. We have all sorts of other weird and killer creatures, like brown snakes, spiders, all those things. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:26 Lauren Jackson |
3:27 |
| [Comment From RichRich: ] Do you enjoy playing the huge number of minutes Brian tends to use you for, or would you like a little more rest? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:27 Rich |
3:27 |
| Lauren Jackson: I want to play all the time. I want to play 45 minutes in a game. He actually stops us from playing that many minutes. I think he does it right. He wants to win; we want to win. I completely trust whatever he does. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:27 Lauren Jackson |

Thursday June 3, 2010 3:28 Ada |
| | |
3:29 |
| Lauren Jackson: I look forward to it. I think it's going to be a completely different experience without Shabtai, but I'm going to be with Sue and hopefully my parents will come over. It's good because I have a lot of time by myself to focus on school and on the upcoming WNBA season. Very little in terms of distractions in Russia. |

| [Comment From DD: ] What do you feel is your greatest accomplishment on and off the court? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:30 D |

3:30 |
| Lauren Jackson: Probably the WNBA title and the World Championship in 2006 with the Australian National Team would be my greatest accomplishments on the court. Off the court, that's still yet to come. |

| Lauren Jackson: I didn't watch it because of the time difference, but I was very happy for the girls. It was a horrible time that everyone went through and I'm just happy at the outcome. They rightfully deserved to be the best in Europe, as Shabtai would have loved. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:37 Lauren Jackson |

| [Comment From VickiVicki: ] Have you ever had a problem with teammates not understanding what you're saying because you've used certain words or phrasings? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:37 Vicki |
3:37 |
| Lauren Jackson: Yes. All the time. I honestly can't understand what my teammates are saying ever. I struggle with it. Especially when calling plays and things like that on the court. I cannot for the life of me understand sometimes. Everyone gets so frustrated, but I honestly cannot hear them. |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:37 Lauren Jackson |

| [Comment From RichRich: ] Do you think any WNBA player could legitimately make an NBA roster? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:41 Rich |
3:42 |
| Lauren Jackson: Yeah, I do. Especially the girls in the league that can shoot the ball really well from outside. Physically, it would be very difficult for a player in our league to match what they can do for obvious reasons. But I think players who can pass the ball really well, make good decisions and can shoot it have a chance to be one of the last players on the roster. |

| [Comment From JennyJenny: ] Do you ever hate being so tall? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:42 Jenny |

| Lauren Jackson: Never. When you grow up being a big kid, it just becomes normal. I was in a very big family, so it was never like I was the odd one out. I've always been treated really respectfully in my home. I started getting good at basketball at a very young age, so people definitely started respecting me. I've never not loved being my height. I'm very fortunate. |

| Lauren Jackson: Sue Bird makes me laugh. She does things that have me cracking up in practice. I can't actually think of one thing, but she had me roaring today in practice. My uncle tells amazing jokes, so he makes me laugh too. There's nothing like a good laugh. |

| Lauren Jackson: Madison Square Garden, because every time I go there it takes me back to being a kid. You hear about these arenas growing up. That might be the most famous arena in the world. It's just so intimidating because of the hype. |

| [Comment From TMooreTMoore: ] Anne Donovan as coach... First, had you ever had a coach taller than you? Second, how was she able to help you specifically improve your post game? |
Thursday June 3, 2010 3:48 TMoore |
3:49 |
| Lauren Jackson: Yeah, she was taller than me. Anne worked really hard on getting me better. She worked after practice with me in the post. She was a great motivator. It was great playing under Anne. |

Thursday June 3, 2010 3:51 D |

| Lauren Jackson: Probably just the professionalism. I don't think you can really replicate that anywhere in the world other than here. The desire to win, to be playing the best players in the world day in and day out, it's insane. It doesn't work like that anywhere else. |

Thursday June 3, 2010 3:55 Guest |
3:56 |
| Lauren Jackson: There are just moments when KeyArena gets so loud you can't hear yourself think. I think that hinders the other team but helps us because we know that everyone in that stadium is pulling for us. The atmosphere there, it is something that I will never experience anywhere else in the world. I just love it here. I've got lovely things to say about Seattle and KeyArena. It's probably going to be the fondest thing about my career, looking back on it when I retire, is my time here. |
